The Shoot
The locations - PICC, JJ’s studio, and the new Parklinks Experience Center - were defined but the visual treatment was intentionally open. With only a loose shot list, we let the spaces, the light, and JJ’s presence to determine what we shot and how we framed it. It was a more instinctive way of working, giving the film room to discover its own visual language. The result was a four-minute film and four social media reels that capture JJ’s thinking with the same character, energy, and individuality that define his work.
The Approach
The brief was straightforward: get inside the mind of designer JJ Acuña and explore the thinking behind The Parklinks Experience Center. We chose to approach the film as a documentary, allowing JJ to tell the story in his own words rather than through a scripted narrative. Research into his work informed a carefully considered set of questions designed to draw out his ideas, references and creative process. From there, we let the conversation lead.
